I was chosen to attend a Birchbloggers breakfast with Nicole Lee of innovative color brand LAQA & Co. What started out as a line of nail polish pens, has transformed into more traditional nail polishes, nail polish duos and gorgeously pigmented lip chubby pencils. Nicole Lee, LAQA & Co co-owner, was really cool and took her time to chat with all of the bloggers present.

On the brand story…..

LAQA & Co is an artistically based (the packaging features artists that LAQA has commissioned) brand that inspires women. They commission artists to feature their work on LAQA packaging. Visually, the product has a very clean aesthetic and it’s kind of exciting seeing different artwork on different products.

On Filling a need…

The founders saw that although the nail polish pens were innovative, they were also tricky to sell since most people were not used to nail application without a brush. They evolved to traditional nail polish as well as lip pencils. Overall the brand Cool innovative products with a twist. Mature and not too young and poppy.

On What’s Next…. 

One of the cool parts of the breakfast was seeing the Spring 2014 colors/offerings ahead of time. LAQA will be offering Nail Duos (see Nicole’s mani above using one of their forthcoming products). Smudge pencils for the eyes and possible nail care products are definitely in the works.
